Two people in the same life, not counting the dog

Two St. Petersburg old intellectuals, husband and wife, survived the Great Patriotic War as children. Now they live alone, their children have left. They possess wisdom, calmness, optimism, patience, and forgiveness — all of which are so lacking in modern people today. Therefore, those who are cold and who need help and support are drawn to them, to their warmth and home, like to a fire.
