1987. Jordan Belfort becomes a broker at a successful investment bank. Soon after, the bank closed after the Dow Jones index suddenly collapsed. On Theresa's wife's advice, Jordan gets a job at a small institution dealing with small stocks. His persistent style of communication with clients and innate charisma quickly bear fruit. He meets Donny's neighbor, a merchant, who immediately finds common ground with Jordan and decides to open his own firm with him. As employees, they hire several of Belfort's friends, his father Max, and name the company "Stratton Oakmont." In his free time from work, Jordan squanders his life: wanders from one party to another, engages in sexual relations with prostitutes, uses many narcotic drugs, including cocaine and guaia.
