Seven years ago, humanity blew up an asteroid approaching Earth, but after that it faced the consequences — some of the Earth's inhabitants mutated into giant monsters. A year later, the world's population decreased by 95%. Joel's parents died, and since then he has been living in an underground bunker with fellow survivors. He recently picked up a radio signal from another colony where his teenage love Aimee lives, and now he's decided to get to her. And it won't be easy, because Joel doesn't have any survival skills, and moreover, when he sees monsters, he falls into a daze.
